Jurgen Klopp shrugs off legendary status at Anfield but explains the importance of guiding Liverpool to a Champions League return in a brand new documentary that charts his final months at the club.

Having informed owners Fenway Sports Group in November 2023, Klopp publicly revealed in January last year that he was planning to end his near nine-year stay on Merseyside at the end of last season.

In what was a sudden and shock announcement, the manager who ended a 30-year wait for a league title at Anfield cited a lack of energy to continue operating as manager of a club the size of Liverpool.

The Reds allowed cameras into the AXA Training Centre to film the last five months of Klopp's time in charge following the announcement and in the four-part documentary titled 'Doubters to Believers Liverpool FC: Klopp’s Era' the iconic former boss reveals his unease at being seen as such a vaunted figure at the club.

And in a somewhat prophetic parting message, delivered at the end of the fourth and final episode, Klopp - whose side finished third to re-establish themselves as a Champions League club - explains how his eventual successor, later confirmed as Arne Slot, would be able to take the team to even greater heights.

"It doesn't feel at all [like I am a Liverpool legend]," Klopp says.

We qualified for the Champions League, which is a great achievement in such a difficult league.

"And it is great, I am really happy that we could do that.

Klopp's prediction has so far proven accurate as Slot's Reds find themselves 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League with 10 games to go, while gearing up for a Carabao Cup final on March 16 against Newcastle and a last-16 Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain next week.
